Obama

Ok, seriously. I don't get it. I realize that I don't watch as much news as I should, but I hadn't even heard of Obama until CNN decided he should be president. Now it seems like he's the only candidate anyone ever talks about. I don't understand where he came from or why the hype is so big.

And the funny thing about this is that, despite all of the hype and how much everyone is talking about this movie, no one ever talks about why he is good. All I've heard so far is that the he's the best Democratic candidate ever, but the only indication of why is just because he's black.

Now, I understand that some presidential nominations are strictly publicity stunts and don't try to be more meaningful than that. I'm indifferent to that. There's a lot of those people that I enjoy. I also understand that sometimes controversy in the media is entertaining (and though I probably shouldn't think so, there's some of these that I enjoy, too).

So, I ask this not by way of criticism, but as an actual question for anyone that's studied this candidate: Is he good?

So I wrote that in response to a comment on the 300 post, but after I wrote this modified version about Obama, I realized that I could do one more:

Ok, seriously. I don't get it. I realize that I don't watch as much news as I should, but I hadn't even heard of Mitt Romney until he decided he should be president. Now it seems like he's the only candidate anyone in Utah ever talks about. I don't understand where he came from or why the hype is so big.

And the funny thing about this is that, despite all of the hype and how much everyone is talking about this movie, no one ever talks about why he is good. All I've heard so far is that the he's the best Republican candidate ever, but the only indication of why is just because he's mormon.

300

Ok, seriously. I don't get it. I realize that I don't watch as much TV as I should, but I hadn't even heard of 300 until (the) Don posted about it. Now it seems like it's the only movie anyone ever talks about. I don't understand where it came from or why the hype is so big.

And the funny thing about this is that, despite all of the hype and how much everyone is talking about this movie, no one ever talks about why it is good. All I've heard so far is that the it's the best war movie ever, but the only indication of why is just because it's the most violent war movie ever.

Now, I understand that some movies are strictly entertainment and don't try to be more meaningful than that. I'm fine with that. There's a lot of those movies that I enjoy. I also understand that sometimes violent media are entertaining (and though I probably shouldn't think so, there's some of these that I enjoy, too).

So, I ask this not by way of criticism, but as an actual question for anyone that's seen this movie: Is it good?

Lent

I guess we're in lent. Normally it's Ronnie's job to let me know when I'm supposed to start celebrating holidays that correspond to religions other than my own, but I guess he's forsaken me, because I had to find out from Kylee.

All the same, I figure that lent deserves some of my attention, though I'm not sure what I should give up. I've pretty much already given up all of the habits that I can. (Not that I've given up all of my bad habits, just that I intend to keep the ones I haven't given up.)

Anyway, two years ago I gave up blogging for lent, and that's kind of when I made Provo Platinum (instead of posting my own blogs). Now, considering that I haven't blogged very consistently for a while, I thought I'd give up not blogging and see how that goes.

The New AT&T

I was a little confused by these new commercials about Cingular and AT&T, so I did a little research, and found this nice explanation.
